UFC Flyweight kingpin was supposed to face title contender Ray Borg at UFC 215 on October 7th in Las Vegas, Nevada. But at the last minute, the match was scratched off as Borg fell ill.
If Johnson was on the verge of breaking Anderson Silva’s all time highest title defense record(10), but Borg postponed the possible dream by pulling out of UFC 215 fight only two days prior to the scheduled event.
Mighty Mouse’s management got the fight rescheduled for him as well as getting his UFC contract renegotiated. But the terms of the deal have been not disclosed.
Johnson is the first and the only UFC flyweight champion in the history of the company and ties the record of highest title defense with Silva. If Borg wins the fight he will be the second to beat Johnson besides Dominic Cruz.
UFC 216 will be headlined by an interim title fight between lightweight prospects Tony Ferguson and Keven Lee.
