The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has formally granted the 2024 summer Olympics to Paris and the 2028 edition to Los Angeles. The announcement was made at the IOC Session in Peruvian capital Lima on Wednesday. The occasion was the first time two Summer Olympics were granted by the IOC at once in the modern history.
Paris will be hosting the quadrennial event in 2024, 100 years after its last Games. Los Angeles, which hosted Olympics in 1932 and 1984, conceded the 2024 Olympics to Paris for which it has been promised $180 million by the IOC. Los Angeles will join London and Paris as the only three-time Olympic hosts.
The 2020 Olympics will take place in Tokyo, Japan, announcement for which was made in 2013.
